Diversity, equality and inclusion
At ARPANSA, we are committed to the principles of diversity, equity and inclusion. This means we are building an increasingly diverse organisation and work culture. A culture where staff can do their best work, feel a sense of belonging and can be their unique and best selves.
ARPANSA recognises that a diverse and inclusive workforce improves:
- the experience of staff
- enhances our interactions with our clients and each other
- builds capability by bringing a diversity of approaches
- allows for a broader spectrum of perspectives
- encourages empathy and connection with one another.
We as an agency are focusing on diversity and holding ourselves accountable. To achieve this, the Executive Group is leading initiatives focused on delivering measurable results in diversity, equality, and inclusion. They do this by participating in networks and presenting at awareness-raising events.
To realise this vision, we have committed to 5 areas of focus and accountability:
- First Nations people
- gender equality
- LGBTQIA+
- cultural and linguistic diversity
- ability and neurodiversity.
Each focus area has outcomes that aim to achieve real change and measures that quantify progress on change realisation. In making positive change, we will:
- leverage ideas and programs that deliver impactful outcomes
- make time to involve staff in the co-design, implementation and communication of initiatives
- focus our efforts on activities that enable a measurable shift in results.
Join us today to help us achieve it – see our Current Vacancies page for potential job opportunities at ARPANSA.
Australian Public Service Census - 2024 results
Each year, ARPANSA staff participate in the Australian Public Service (APS) Census.
The APS Employee Census is an annual survey that collects feedback from APS employees on important workplace issues. It is open to all APS employees and is an opportunity to tell the APS Commissioner and agency heads what they think about working in the APS.
The census results help us to develop strategies to build capability across our workforce. It also ensures that our activities are efficient and of high quality.
ARPANSA works with staff to take an in-depth look at these results. This analysis helps to develop measurable actions for continuous improvement as shown in our APS Census action plan. We also conduct safety culture assessments to develop a comprehensive picture of ARPANSA’s safety culture. This initiative ensures we follow best practice regulations, as recommended by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
